So Devastator comes out 1 August at $299.90, and over the past week we’ve taken a look at the component Constructicons that make up this behemoth. So here’s a review of the mighty Devastator in all his glory!
The box art is really sweet, as you can tell from the first picture, and it tantalises you with more images of the actual product behind.
They’re really good at showing how Devastator is a team (and hence the whole Combiner theme).
Of course, it boasts the Combiner Wars imprint for this year’s line.
This is a cropped version of the box art.
Surprisingly, Devastator doesn’t come pre-assembled. Instead, you have to put him together form his six component members. I think that’s a good way of building up the anticipation for the actual figure!
And here are all of Devastator’s parts. He does have a fair amount of kibble, but they can be used as weapons for the respective Constructicons. So yeah, it’s not like they don’t have guns as many have complained, just that the stock images don’t generally picture the wielding the weapons (and neither is a canonical guide as to who should wield what).
Just some comparisons with the actual box. It ain’t lying!
A closer look at the guns and accessories.
They are pretty detailed, even if the details aren’t painted on. Hey, that’s what customisation is for!
So here we have the whole family of Constructicons waiting for battle.
And another group picture wielding their weapons! I’m setting Long Haul as leader because he’s the biggest.
And here you have it! Devastator!
Here’s another shot that illustrates his size. He’s really big, and the third largest mould (combined, that is) around. The distinct honour of the largest goes to Fortress Maximus and Generations Metroplex, of course.
He’s got a nice V-shaped figure, and he’s very sturdy.
He’s surprisingly slim from the sides, with very few things jutting out.
Be careful of his right leg though. He’s stable, but if you drag his feet on the ground he might trip over when you misalign his right foot.
Even from the back, he looks pretty impressive.
And here we have Devastator, cheering for his freedom and release!
So here are the official promo images.
Is that all there is to Devastator? I’m afraid not, because there’s still one more Devastator to review.
