(Note: I’ve started Fun to be Smart!)
I want there to be fewer stupid people in the world. There, I said it.
Stupid people make life difficult for everyone.
I want a world where there are more smart people, where we can have intelligent, productive conversations, where we can do fun and interesting things.
I want more people to be smart. It’s fun to to be smart, right?
So I aspire to scam people (kids and adults) into learning – by sharing information in such a compelling way that you don’t think “ah crap I’m going to learn now“, but more of “wow I want to see what else I can find out“.
I want to make education fun – like, really fun.
I’m not the first person to want to make education fun, and I know that.
But if you take a look at all the places that “make learning fun”, either
- it’s not really fun because the educators creating it are boring
- it’s not really educational because the people doing it are not educators
It’s the fake sort of fun where it’s only the creators who think it’s fun, but it’s actually lame. Kind of like that huge Willy Wonka fail.
I want to change that, and I can because:
- I am incredibly geeky
- I have deep and diverse experience in education
I’ve made
- escape rooms
- pop culture-themed lessons (learning English with Pokemon)
- detective stories that test comprehension skills
And as a result, I’ve scammed hundreds of kids into learning (and asking for more worksheets).
