Should you watch it, wiki it, or wait for the recap? Watch it.
Caroline lists the apartment for rent on Airbnb to make some extra cash, and find a whole gaggle of Victoria’s Secret models renting it for the weekend! Hijinks ensue when their apartment becomes the coolest place for the night, and important pipes burst. Will Max and Caroline’s first Airbnb rental be successful?
“And the Model Apartment” is the sixth episode of the fourth season of 2 Broke Girls. It features more than 2 girls this episode, and is perhaps a tie-in for (or partly sponsored by) the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014. It’s a Caroline episode, focusing on her still rampant desire for the life that she used to lead, while also giving Max a taste of a lifestyle she’s never had.
There’s not much to be said in way of plot for this episode, nor for the performances. What you are watching it for, however, is a chance to see Max and Caroline interact with other women of the same demographic, with all the humour that female interactions provide. But hey, it’s really, really easy on the eyes.
Highlights
Eye candy
As mentioned in an earlier caption, a pair of Victoria’s Secret models guest star in this episode. The extras are also of the good looking variety, and this just makes it a fun and easy episode to watch. Strangely enough, there’s a dearth of lewd humour (except for some Oleg drivel) for the amount of hot that’s in this episode. Keeping it classy, I see!
Airbnb references
As mentioned before, it’s always good when shows acknowledge up and coming trends before everyone else does. And it’s believable that the girls would turn to Airbnb for extra cash – they are Broke Girls after all. More digs are to be had at the euphemisms used for Airbnb descriptions (Old World charm, have you seen how overused it is?), which help cement this show as a relevant and current series.
Sophie’s apartment
More specifically, her bedroom. We hardly ever get to see her bedroom, though it’s spoken of often by Oleg and herself. Here we see it used for a less carnal purpose, thankfully, and it’s real treat to see her strangely colourful sheets.
Letdowns
Too much Oleg
It’s no secret that I think Oleg is the least funny and most irrelevant of characters on the show, and he gets the spotlight here, unfortunately. Yuck. Don’t really need shots of Oleg without pants, thanks.
Martha Hunt and Lily Aldridge can’t really act
Well they are models, so I guess it’s asking too much of them. It is still fun to see them preening, so I’m just nitpicking here I suppose. It’s amazing that the producers even got them on the episode at all!
“And the Model Apartment” is a great tie-in that shows how relevant 2 Broke Girls can be, with its utter lack of pretension and complete understanding of the viewing demographic. More of these themed episodes would be fun (especially with Christmas coming up).
