[Star Wars] 5 of the coolest “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” toys to get this Christmas!

With less than a month to Christmas (and two weeks to “The Force Awakens”), you’re probably bewildered by the range of Star Wars products available. There are small action figures, large vehicles, life-sized lightsabers and all manner of merchandise available. If you can’t tap on the Force to guide you, then here’s a handy guide to the toys you must have this Christmas. And if you’re a Star Wars fan, you probably have all of them!

1)Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Millennium Falcon
(retails in Singapore for SGD $239.90)

Scaled for 3.5 inch figures, this new movie brings about a new Millennium Falcon for a new generation! It’s been 7 years since we got a new Millennium Falcon. The 2008 Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon was a mammoth piece of work, but let’s face it, it was a little too large and unwieldy for the average collector.

The new Millennium Falcon is a more reasonable size, while still maintaining an impressive enough girth that befits the fastest ship in the galaxy. Instead of having removable panels that you might lose, this version of the Millennium Falcon actually opens up into a playset, giving you as much play area as the previous one, but without the hassle of storing such a massive toy!

It comes with Finn, BB-8, and dear old Chewbacca. Really, the only other figure you’d need would be a Kylo Ren to fight them. This version even comes with a Nerf cannon, so you can shoot down enemy Sith without damaging your toys! Previously, the hard plastic missiles ran a risk of spoiling the paint job on your Star Wars figures, and your eyes.

2)Star Wars Bladebuilders Jedi Master Lightsaber
(retails in Singapore for SGD $99.90)

Admit it — when you first saw a lightsaber duel, you immediately went out, grabbed a pole, and staged your own lightsaber fight, complete with the iconic whoosh sound of the lightsaber. Then when Kylo Ren’s lightsaber was first revealed, cosplayers had a field day replicating the weapon (which, honestly, doesn’t look like it’s easy to wield without injuring yourself).

But with all the different configurations of lightsabers, how could you ever choose one? So that’s where this lightsaber comes in – you get to build your favourite lightsabers from the films, or even make a unique one for your Star Wars LARP character. As for me, I’m going to build Darth Maul’s double-bladed lightsaber.

3)Star Wars The Force Awakens Micro Machines First Order Star Destroyer Set
(retails in Singapore for SGD $89.90)

If there’s one thing that’s always showcased the grand vastness of space in Star Wars, it’s the massive starship battles with lasers flying all over the screen. While you could do that with the new Millennium Falcon, your arms are bound to get tired after a few aerial dogfights. So here’s a way to take that battle to a smaller (and less tiring) scale. Micro Machines!

Although you won’t have as vast a range of figures to go with your Micro Machines scaled Kylo Ren and Finn, you don’t really need anyone else, right? It’s the X-Wing’s battle that you really want to re-enact, first against the TIE Fighter, then against the giant Star Destroyer itself!

4)Star Wars 31 inch Stormtrooper
(retails at SGD $79.95)

Here’s a bit of trivia for you — Stormtrooper is actually one word, not two. In any case, they now come in a 31-inch size that’ll dwarf any other figures you have! It’s going to be a bit expensive to army build with 31-inch Stormtroopers (come on, you thought of that right?), but nothing’s going to look quite as impressive as a legion of giant Stormtroopers descending upon your hapless 3.5 inch figures.

For the metric system, 31 inches translates to 77 centimetres. That’s bigger than most toddlers, which is what you’re going to compare the Stormtrooper to right?

5)Star Wars: The Force Awakens Black Series First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter Deluxe
(retails for SGD $339.90)

And finally, if you’ve been really, really nice this Christmas – there’s a giant TIE Fighter you can reward yourself with! Coming from the Black Series, which is the line of premium Star Wars figures, is a TIE Fighter that matches the Millennium Falcon in sheer size.

The only thing that could dwarf this is a Black Series Star Destroyer – but you’d probably need to give up your bed (and bedroom) to house something of that scale. This TIE Fighter scaled for 6 inch figures, so imagine the dioramas you can make with it!

So be a good boy this Christmas, and maybe Santa might get you one of these. But if you’re naughty, the Krampus might just get you a broken toy…
