After watching any Star Wars movie, the first thing you’re going to do with your buddies is to pick up any sword-shaped object and re-enact a lightsaber fight, right? Most of the time you’ll do that with bamboo poles (especially since they’re so brightly coloured). But it’s high time you upgraded to an actual (well, a toy really) lightsaber!
The Jedi Master Lightsaber is part of the Bladebuilders series, which gives you multiple components to customise your own personal lightsaber. Think of it as Lego with lightsabers.
The box even gives you some ideas to start out your lightsaber building quest, but you won’t be needing that after five minutes.
These pieces are useful mostly when used in tandem.
This is the most impressive piece, and will probably form the bulk of your custom lightsabers.
This slides on to the lightsaber itself, and gives you options to add parts to the hilt.
This will also form the crux of any lightsaber that has blades going in multiple directions.
It comes with extra blade parts so that your lightsaber can cut in more than one direction.
And here’s the lightsaber itself! It’s the blue version, but hey you get the green ones as daggers.
You can shorten it if need be. It comes with lights and sounds, so if you flick it open while activating the switch, you can mimic a Jedi drawing his lightsaber!
The lightsaber will even emit “hitting” sounds when you strike something with it, so go wild attacking other objects! Objects, not people.
And here’s the first combination I built! It’s a trident, but in reality there’s only one place you can hold it, and it doesn’t work too well because you’ll hit yourself when you attack others.
The next order of business is to build Kylo Ren’s lightsaber. This is semi-functional, but you run the risk of poking yourself when you parry.
This may seem like a good idea, but it’s very awkwardly weighted, so you’ll find yourself tiring quickly.
This is as close to Darth Bane’s double-bladed lightsaber as I could manage. I one up him by make it a triple-bladed lightsaber.
Of course, the combinations soon become ridiculous when try to build a lightsaber with everything provided.
This seemed fairly properly weighted, although there’s hardly any defense available with this configuration.
And here’s the most practical way to leave your lightsaber pieces! The Jedi Master Lightsaber retails for SGD $99.90, but one’s not going to be enough. In fact, you’ll probably want to encourage a friend to get another lightsaber so that you can have duels. Remember, there are parrying sounds when you hit your lightsabers against each other, so you don’t have to make up silly sound effects when you duel!
