In this final instalment of my Fortress Maximus series (hey he’s the biggest Transformer ever, he deserves more than one post!), I show you what SDCC Fortress Maximus looks like in all his amazing glory. You could buy the Takara release (which also comes with Master Sword), but I’m impatient and I’m going to go with SDCC Fortress Maximus.
SDCC Fortress Maximus retails for SGD $349.90. If you didn’t catch him at STGCC this year, you can pick him up from Simply Toys. Thanks Hasbro for sending him over!
Cerebros/Fortress
As heads, they really don’t have many significant differences. It’s their robot mode, with their Titan Masters in head form, that show you what’s different between them. As you can see, the regular release (left) has a mouthplate), while the SDCC version has a sculpted face. It makes him look more boyish and studious, which fits his persona in Transformers: Headmasters.
His limbs also enjoy additional detailing.
Master Sword
Here’s his Master Sword. And it breaks into three components.
So there’s a Master Sword for Cerebros/Fortress, though you’ll not be able to have both Fortress Maximus and Fortress carry their swords at the same time. But then it’d be odd to have Fortress Maximus without a head eh?
Robot mode
And now for the star of the show – SDCC Fortress Maximus in robot mode. How does he stack up?
More details are always good, and again, they help to magnify his size because it reduces your size expectations of normalcy. There’s also the change of his chest piece to white to match the original Fortress Maximus, giving it the more anime look while reducing the realistic look.
I’m OK with reduced realism because honestly, Fortress Maximus isn’t disguising himself as anything. OK maybe he’s disguised as a starship, but even so he’s not fooling anyone with that distinctive design. Everyone knows he’s Fortress Maximus.
What do these words mean? I presume it means danger.
Additional shoulder details.
Weathering effect on his mortars.
Also, his mid-section is now a different, grey colour.
Batteries not included.
So here are our two big boys. Is the extra worth it for a Master Sword? IMHO, yes, again because of anime accuracy (and he comes with a poster too).
And these are the things you can do with a Master Sword. Pick up Sentinel’s Gigantic Action Megazarak and you can have two poseable Headmaster Commanders do battle with each other!
Are you picking up SDCC Fortress Maximus? Remember that Simply Toys has him!
