[Transformers] ‘Guyhawk’ from the Liokaiser giftset is a punk rock gangster

Now I’m going to check out Guyhawk from the Liokaiser giftset. He transformers into an F-14 Tomcat fighter jet, and is part of the Destrons, who form Liokaiser. He is a retool of Air Raid with a really bird-like head.

Because Guyhawk is pink, I used to call him Girlhawk instead and give, well, a love interest to the members of the Breastforce, if only so they had someone to fight over. It was really just a battle between Leozack and Jaguar (since Jaguar had those red missiles) but hey, at least I tried to inject some drama in the battles between my Transformers. So Guyhawk was a lady named Girlhawk to me.

In this series, ie Transformers: Combiner Wars, Liokaiser is formed from a team of Destrons. It is a homage to Liokaiser from the Transformers: Victory, where the team that formed Liokaiser was called Breastforce.

Liokaiser retails for $199.90 and is available at all good departmental stores. Thanks Hasbro for sending him over!

Guyhawk doesn’t look as amazingly like his predecessor as Fellbat does, but those yellow stripes along his wings are a great callback to his G1 self. I’m not sure what it is about those yellow stripes that remind me about the 80’s – perhaps it’s the fact that many airplane toys during that era had those yellow strips along them to. I’m not entirely sure of the significance or purpose of those strips, but yes, it’s definitely something distinctive about 80’s planes.

I have to say that I like the bright pink though, for some strange reason. Guyhawk carries it off very well – a lesser Transformer would have looked like a pushover for sure.

Robot Mode

In robot mode, Guyhawk looks like a bully. He reminds you of a jock, although being a plane, he doesn’t have the proportions of a jock. Instead, it looks like he has red shades on and is part of a punk rock gang that will beat you up for daring to comment on their attire. In that sense, Guyhawk has the punk rock gangster look. Those bright silvery wings add to that impression.

His svelte (compared to his team mates) build makes him look more like a sarcastic person who’ll shoot your, rather than someone who’ll pound you into the ground.

Guyhawk really reminds me of a slim Bebop from Ninja Turtles. Maybe I should put them together and make them be friends, especially since the 2012 Bebop is rather slim. In any case, his colour and new head sculpt serve to give him an edge that the other Destrons don’t.

Watch out for my next review on the members that form Liokaiser!
